Bonnie Dean Doty Bonnie Doty Paintings Bonnie loves the challenge of creating an atmosphere--searching for light, shadow, color, and shapes.   Reared in Summerville, SC, she earned her BFA degree in Advertising from UNC-Greensboro.  Commercial Art positions held upon graduation included Creative Arts Studio in Washington, DC and Bradham Advertising in Charleston, SC.   Since retiring to Edisto Island, SC, Bonnie primarily paints island landscapes. She and her husband placed a conservation easement on their property to guarantee that there will always be natural vistas for painters.   Originally, an award-winning artist in Batik, Bonnie later expanded her reach to include watercolor under the direction of renowned artists Tony Van Hasselt and Mary Whyte.   Recent awards at the Edisto Art Guild Juried Shows include 2009 First Place and the First Federal, Charleston--People’s Choice Exhibit, 2010 Honorable Mention.   In 2011 she had the pleasure of serving as judge for the High School Seniors Art Exhibit at First Federal, Charleston. Her work is well known throughout the Lowcountry and beyond.
