Bonnie Doty Paintings
Bonnie loves the challenge of creating an atmosphere with her paintings--always searching for the light, shadow, color and shapes. She originally won awards in the Batik medium - Summerville Artist Guild Juried Shows: 1978 First Place 1979 Honorable Mention 1980 First Place 1981 Award of Merit 1982 Merchandise Award Edisto Art Guild Juried Shows: 2003 Outstanding Merit 2006 Honorable Mention 2008 Honorable Mention 2009 First Place She began to study oil and watercolor in 2005 and has taken workshops with renowned artists including Mary Whyte, watercolorist. Raised in Summerville, S.C., Bonnie earned her BFA degree in Advertising from UNC-Greensboro. Commercial Art positions held upon graduation included Creative Arts Studio in Washington, D.C. and Bradham Advertising in Charleston, S.C. Since retiring to Edisto Island, S.C., Bonnie and her husband have become great advocates for land preservation. Their property has been placed in a conservation easement to guarantee that there will always be natural vistas for artists on Edisto. |
